This Privacy Policy describes how TapCal ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with our website at https://www.tapcal.app (the "Site") and the TapCal mobile application (the "App") (together, the "Services"). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, "you" and "your" mean any visitor to the Site or user of the App.
The App is a calendar and scheduling application that integrates with Apple services (including EventKit, WeatherKit, and Notifications) and selected third-party services as described below.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law, notify you through the Services or by other appropriate means.
Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to information processed in connection with your use of:
- The Site, including any contact or support forms you may use.
- The TapCal App installed on your Apple device.
It does not apply to any third-party websites, services, or applications that may be linked from the Site or App. Those services have their own privacy policies.
Information We Collect
We design TapCal to operate primarily on your device. We do not create user accounts, do not operate a user database for the App, and do not collect data for profiling or behavioural tracking. The information we process is limited to what is necessary to provide the Services and what you voluntarily provide.
1. Website Visits and Server Logs
When you visit the Site, our hosting provider may automatically collect certain technical information in server logs, such as IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps. This information is used for security, debugging, and basic operational purposes and is not used by us to personally identify you.
2. Calendar Access (App, On-Device Only)
The App integrates with Apple's EventKit framework to read, create, and modify calendar events on your device. With your permission, the App can:
- Read existing calendar events.
- Create new calendar events.
- Modify or delete calendar events.
All calendar data is processed on your device. TapCal does not transmit your calendar data to our own servers or store it externally. Any syncing of events to iCloud, Exchange, Google Calendar, or other accounts is handled solely by Apple and the relevant account providers.
3. Location Access (App, for Weather Only)
With your permission, the App may access your device's location in order to display weather information using Apple's WeatherKit service. Location data is used only to:
- Determine your approximate location for weather display.
- Request current weather conditions from Apple's WeatherKit API.
We do not store your location, do not build any location history, and do not transmit your location to any server we control. Location is processed temporarily as needed to request and display weather information.
4. Notifications (App)
The App may request permission to send you notifications. Notifications are used only for purposes such as:
- Event reminders.
- Calendar-related updates.
- Other App-related alerts that you configure or consent to.
Notification content is generated locally based on your calendar data and settings. We do not transmit notification content to our own servers.
5. Advertising Data (Google AdMob in the App)
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect information from your device to provide and measure ads, including:
- Device identifiers.
- IP address.
- Approximate location (as inferred by Google).
- Ad impressions and interactions.
- Diagnostic information related to ad delivery.
Depending on your platform settings and applicable regulations, Google may serve personalised ads (based on device identifiers and other signals) or non-personalised, contextual ads. These practices are governed by Google's own privacy policies and consent mechanisms.
6. Optional Feedback Messages (Site and App)
The Services may include a feedback or contact feature where you can submit a message to us. When you use this feature:
- We receive the text content you choose to submit.
- We do not automatically attach identifiers such as your name, email address, or device ID.
- You may voluntarily include personal information in your message, but this is not required.
Feedback submissions are processed via a Cloudflare Worker and stored in a private Notion database so that we can read and respond to your feedback. We use this information only for support and to improve the Services.
7. Data Collected by Apple
Apple may collect analytics or diagnostic information as part of iOS and App Store services, such as crash reports or aggregated usage statistics. This data is controlled by Apple, not by us, and is subject to Apple's privacy policies, not this Privacy Policy.
Information We Do Not Collect
In connection with the App, we do not intentionally collect or store:
- User account information (we do not operate an account system for the App).
- Names, email addresses, or contact lists, unless you voluntarily provide them in a feedback message.
- Payment card numbers or billing details (all purchases are processed by Apple).
- Calendar data on our own servers.
- Location history or continuous tracking data.
- Data used by us to track you across other apps or websites.
If we become aware that we have unintentionally collected personal data in a way that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
How We Use Information
We use the information we process for the following purposes:
- To operate and provide the core functionality of the App (calendar management, notifications, and weather display).
- To operate, maintain, and secure the Site.
- To display advertisements in the App via Google AdMob.
- To read and respond to feedback you choose to submit.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
Third-Party Services
We rely on certain third-party services to provide parts of the functionality of the Services. These services process data in accordance with their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob: Provides ad serving and related measurement in the App.
- Apple WeatherKit: Provides weather data used by the App when you allow location access.
- Apple (EventKit, Notifications, iOS): Provides calendar, notification, and system-level services used by the App.
- Cloudflare Workers: Used to securely receive and process feedback submissions.
- Notion: Used to store feedback messages in a private workspace.
We do not sell your personal data and do not share feedback or other information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at hello@tapcal.app and we will take reasonable steps to delete such information.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to help protect the information we process, including:
- Keeping calendar data and most App processing on your device.
- Using secure (HTTPS) connections for feedback submissions.
- Restricting access to feedback stored in Notion.
- Using Cloudflare's security features for requests sent to our Worker.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights under applicable data protection laws, which may include the right to:
- Request access to personal information you have voluntarily provided (for example, via feedback).
- Request correction or deletion of that information.
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (such as location access or notifications, which you can also manage in your device settings).

International Data Transfers
Feedback messages and related data may be processed or stored in countries other than your own, due to the locations of our service providers (such as Cloudflare and Notion). These providers use industry-standard security measures and, where applicable, implement safeguards required by data protection laws for cross-border data transfers.
