About TapCal
A calendar you can understand at a glance. A calendar that fits you instead of the other way around.
Where TapCal Started
I'm Jon, the creator of TapCal and the person behind the YouTube channel JonsTech. For years I was looking for a calendar app that actually worked the way my brain does. I wanted a full month view widget where I could see my events written out by day, not just a row of dots that tell me nothing.
That simple need is where TapCal began. I wanted to glance at my phone and instantly know what was happening this week and this month without tapping through multiple screens or opening the app every time. When I shared my early version with friends, the response was clear: this should not just be a personal project, it should be a proper app.
Built Around How People Actually Use Their Phone
I spoke to friends, family, and other users about everything that annoyed them in their current calendar apps. Too many taps. Clunky time pickers. Confusing views. Widgets that look nice but do not actually tell you anything useful.
TapCal is designed to cut through that. Actions in the app are intentionally built to take fewer taps than most calendar apps. You can use natural language input to fill out event details, so you do not have to faff with little dials and wheels just to set a time. You type the event the way you would say it, and the app handles the rest.
The whole experience is shaped around people, not features for the sake of features. TapCal is sleek, modern, and serious in personality, but it stays human and approachable at the same time.
What Makes TapCal Different
TapCal is for both power users and everyday people who just want a cleaner, more useful calendar than the default.
- Full month view widget with real event titles – see what is actually happening on each day, not just dots.
- Less tapping, more doing – core actions are designed to take fewer steps than other calendar apps.
- Natural language event creation – type something like Lunch with Alex tomorrow at 1pm and we fill in the details for you.
- Customisable themes and fonts – style the app, and even the widgets, independently so everything matches your taste.
- Multiple powerful widgets – a clear list widget for back-to-back events, a fun heat map widget for busy days, and more.
- Weather at a glance – see weather icons for up to 10 days while planning your week, without leaving the app.
- Custom app icon – make the app look at home on your Home Screen.
- Fast, native iOS build – no bloat, no lag, just a responsive app that feels right at home on your device.
The aim is simple: when you open TapCal, or even just look at its widgets, you should instantly understand your day, your week, and your month.
About Jon
I spend a lot of time reviewing and talking about tech on my channel JonsTech. Building TapCal is my answer to a problem I ran into every single day: existing calendar apps did not show me what I needed in a simple, elegant way.
TapCal is not a design exercise or a clone of something else. It is a tool I built for myself first, then refined with real feedback from people who live their lives out of their calendars. If you care about how your time is presented and how quickly you can act on it, this app was built with you in mind.
Share Your Feedback
If you have ideas, found an issue, or just want to share how you use TapCal, I would genuinely like to hear from you. This app will keep evolving based on how people use it in the real world.
